Charles grew up in Newmarket, England, widely regarded as the home of the Thoroughbred, and has strong family connections to both the veterinary and Thoroughbred industries.

He graduated from the University of Bristol with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2016 before completing a Sports Medicine Internship at Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket. Charles moved to Australia in 2018 and has since worked extensively within the Australian Thoroughbred racing industry, including positions with Crown Equine and Woodgrange Equine Hospital.

Charles founded McGladdery’s Veterinary in 2025, providing dedicated veterinary services to Thoroughbred racehorses throughout metropolitan Melbourne and the Ballarat region. His clinical interests centre on racehorse health and performance, with a particular focus on diagnostic imaging and HKJC pre-purchase examinations.

Charles combines international training with extensive Australian racing experience to provide practical, performance-focused veterinary care.

Associate Veterinarian

Maddie graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2023 and went on to complete an 18-month internship at South Eastern Equine Hospital, gaining broad experience in equine medicine, surgery and performance horse care.

She currently works as an associate veterinarian with McGladdery’s Veterinary, providing veterinary services to Thoroughbred racehorses throughout the Melbourne region. Her particular interests include racehorse health and performance, preventative medicine and the management of musculoskeletal conditions in athletic horses.

Maddie’s passion for horses began at a very young age. She grew up with horses on the Mornington Peninsula and competed in eventing. Outside of veterinary work, Maddie enjoys travelling, cooking and maintaining an active lifestyle.
